State Council on Developmental Disabilities-North Valley Hills advocates for and protects the rights of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Public information and review of policy and practice of public and private agencies and related matters are handled there. Counties served are Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne. The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) is made of up people with intellectual/developmental disabilites, family members and community members. SCDD appoints members to this RAC. A developmental disability is defined as either an intellectual disability, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism, or a traumatic brain injury that occurred before the age of 18 years.
